Laser hair removal works by pinpointing the pigment inside your hair follicle without damaging the delicate pores of the skin.
Since hair cycles through “growth” and “dormant” stages and because during the “dormant” phase follicles have no pigment, at least 4 to 6 treatments are needed.
We suggest a series of 6 to 8 treatments, depending on the amount of hair to be treated. This procedure varies from person to person.
During electrolysis, an antiseptic is applied to your skin to clean the area you want to be treated. A probe is then directed into the follicle opening. We carefully place it directly of the papilla. You will not feel the insertion, and the skin will not be broken. Heat radiates from the tip of the probe down onto and surrounding the papilla, destroying it.
The hair is then lifted out of the follicle with forceps. The entire procedure actually takes less time to perform than it does to tell you about it. After a number of hairs are removed, the area is wiped with an antiseptic, followed by an after treatment lotion. Individualized post-treatment instructions are given to ensure normal skin healing. The area may be slightly reddened. However, this redness disappears usually within 10-20 minutes.
The procedure can take as little as 10 minutes or up to an hour, depending on the area treated. The treated area may become pink or red within about 30 minutes of treatment. This can last from a few hours to several days.
